Jumping In, Head First / by Conleigh Bauer

Dear Friends and Family,

I have big news! After 8 years of learning and growing in a corporate setting, I have decided to take the leap, and begin building my photography business full-time. I am grateful for the gifts those jobs gave me: best friends, new skills, the ability to travel, and financial stability that led to purchase my first home. I have a lot to be thankful for. However, after deep thought and years of nagging intuition, I realized my personal and professional fulfillment cannot be found in accomplishing someone else’s goals.

I have been taking photographs since I was young. Eight years ago I bought my first professional camera and became a serious student of photography. Four years ago, I began taking clients. Now as I approach my 30th birthday, I know it is time to jump in head first and dedicate my energy full force into building my own legacy.

To those who love me, I know you are worried. As I shared my plans to those closest to me, the same concerns were voiced again and again - But you have a mortgage now! What about health insurance!? Trust me, this isn’t a spontaneous decision. I have saved and planned. I know it won’t be easy. In fact, it will be very, very hard. This will take up all my time, my savings, and possibly my sanity as I create something big and beautiful for myself. I also know this is absolutely the right time for me to do it.

Thank you to all those who encourage me. Thank you to the amazing clients who took a chance on an amatuer and taught me to be a professional. I am both terrified and terribly excited to move into this next chapter of my life. I hope we can work together soon!

Love,
